Obituary

Funeral services for Clinton Holmes, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Foote, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Holmes died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, in Covenant Hospital Plainview. He was born May 7, 1917, in Aspermont where he grew up. He moved to Bovina, then to Texico and Clovis, N.M. areas in 1938. He moved to Stanford and farmed until 1968 when he moved to Plainview. He retired from the U.S. Post office in 1977. He was a deacon at Northside Baptist Church. On May 7, 1938, he married Jo Evans in Farwell. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Eva June Logan of Fort Worth and Barbara Faus of Lubbock; a son, Freddie Holmes of Plainview; a brother, Terry Holmes of Conroe; a sister, Mildred Cohan of San Antonio; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A daughter, Patricia Maddoux, four sisters and two brothers are deceased.
