Last Rites at Olton Monday for Mrs. Holley

Funeral Services for Mrs. W. P. Holley, 81, of Olton, pioneer Panhandle woman, will be conducted at 10 o?clock Monday morning at the Olton First Baptist Church. The Rev. John Lewis, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in Plainview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Holley died at 2 o?clock Saturday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Clury Phillips, seven miles southwest of Olton after a long illness. The body will be taken to the Phillips home at 10 o?clock this morning to lie in state until time of services.

Mrs. Holley and her family moved from Erath county in 1905 to Hutchinson county when that section of the Panhandle was practically frontier country. Her husband farmed and ranched there for a few years until they moved to Donley county where the family lived for 30 years. They moved to Olton in 1944.

Mrs. Holley was born July 31, 1876, in Anderson county. She was Laura L. Cook until her marriage Nov. 23, 1902, to W. P. Holley in Erath county. The husband is among survivors.

Mrs. Holley was a member of the Olton First Baptist Church.

She was the mother of Miss Gladys Holley, Librarian at the Plainview High School.

Other survivors are two sons, Earl of Rui Doso, N.M., and Robert, Fort Worth; four brothers, John Cook, Phillips; Fletcher Cook, Stephenville; Clark and D.M. Cook, Lelia Lake; three sisters, Mrs. L.E. Smith, Robert Lee; Mrs. D.W. Tomlinson, Lubbock, and Miss Jessie Cook, Clarendon; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Arrangements are under direction of the Lemons Funeral Home.
