Rites Held for W. P. Holley

William Pitt Holley, 93, of Olton died yesterday at 1 p.m. in a Lubbock Nursing Home after a long illness. Services were held today at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Olton with Rev. John Lewis, pastor officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Bob Hearn, pastor of the Second Baptist Church in Lubbock. Interment was in Plainview Memorial Park under the directions of Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Holley was born April 13, 1869 in Dadeville, Ala. At the age of 13 he moved with his parents to Denton county and later to Limestone county. He and Laura Cook were married Nov. 23, 1902 at Stephenville where they resided until 1905 when they moved to Hutchinson county and later to Donley county. In 1944 when Mr. Holley retired from farming they moved to Olton. Mrs. Holley died June 7, 1958.

Mr. Holley was an ordained deacon in the Baptist church and was active in church work until he became ill several years ago.

Survivors include two sons, Earl Holley, Lubbock and Robert Holley, Ft. Worth; two daughters Mrs. Clury Phillips, Olton, and Miss Gladys Holley, Plainview, one sister, Mrs. Hugh Adams, Hubbard; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
