Funeral services for Judge William "Bill" Paul Hollars, 85, of Plainview will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Marrow officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Judge Bill Hollars died on Wednesday Jan. 1, 2014, in Lockney. He was born on Sept. 9, 1928, in Vernon, Texas, to William D. and Mamie Hollars. He married Dorothy Faye Pool on Nov. 22, 1950, in Plainview. Judge Hollars served in the Texas National Guard for six years. He had worked for Bob Bullock in Austin as his public relations representative. He was Hale County judge for 27 years from 1979 until 2006. He was also the county tax assessor from 1961 to 1978. He worked a total of 45 years in the Hale County Courthouse. He was instrumental in getting the War Memorials in Plainview and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Faye Hollars of Plainview; three sons, Ken Hollars and wife Susan of Arlington Heights, Ill., Michael Hollars of Sunnyvale, Calif., Tracy Hollars and wife Dana of Plainview; one brother, Robert H. Hollars and wife Sandra of Plainview; one sister, Rita Barnes of Plainview; four grandchildren, Daniel Hollars of Chicago, Ill., Kyra Hollars of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Trey and Jennifer Hollars, both of Plainview.
