Obituary

Funeral services for Nellie Ruth McEver Hodges, 90, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Hodges died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in Plainview. She was born May 10, 1914, to Thomas and Mary Edna McEver in McLennan County. She married Robert Charles Hodges on July 9, 1937, in Lovington, N.M. He died June 10, 1983. She graduated from Moody High School in 1932 and received her degree from Wayland Baptist College in 1956. She taught in Plainview and Hale Center schools for 34 years. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and had served on the executive board of the Association of Former Students at Wayland Baptist University. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Mardula Hodges of Fallbrook, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Betty McEver of Temple; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James Edwin and Doris Hodges of Waco.; three granddaughters and their husbands, Margie and Kevin Cullen of Fallbrook, Calif., Georgia and Walt Gregory of Encinitas, Calif., and Amy and Jim McGowen of San Diego, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren, Sadie and Soren Gregory and Zoe McGowen; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family suggests memorials to Wayland Baptist University.
