Obituary

Louise Boedeker Hodel, 90, formerly of Plainview, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009, in Lubbock. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, July 20 2009, at First United Methodist Church Chapel with the Rev. Paul Cypert of Harvest Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Louise was born Sept. 20, 1918, in Floyd County to T.H. and Emma Boedeker. She graduated from Lockney High School in 1937 and attended Lippert's Business College. She worked many places, including being the first female manager at Plainview Country Club. She was a past-president of the 19th District of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a Girl Scout leader and a den mother for the Boy Scouts. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She married Jimmy Hodel in July 1947. He preceded her in death in 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda Hodel Gregg; three brothers, Edwin, Bill and Charlie Boedeker; and a sister, Helen McDonald. She is survived by a son, Johnny Hodel of Lubbock; one sister, Emma "Emmie" Bontke of Kress; one grandson, Chris Gregg of Plainview; and a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Gregg of Plainview.
