SAN ANGELO - Funeral services for Martha Helen Hodel, 80, former Lockney resident, were at 10 a.m. today in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brad Winchester officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Plainview Memorial Park by Johnson Funeral Home. Mrs. Hodel died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, in San Angelo. She was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Whitewright, the daughter of the late Van and Edith Claborn. She and her husband, Verner, had lived in Lockney for 40 years. He died in 1990 and she then moved to Christian Village in San Angelo. She was a member of Grape Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dinah and Keith McCulloch of San Angelo; a son, Doug Hodel of Abilene; two brothers, James H. Claborn and Jack Claborn, both of Sierra Viesta, Ariz.; a sister, Margie Ward of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; a stepsister, Alice Badsgard of Whittier, Calif.; and three granddaughters. A brother, Mack Claborn, and a sister, Mary Frances Erspan, are deceased. The family suggests memorials to the Grape Creek Baptist Church, Hospice of San Angelo or Shannon Medical Center.
