Obituary

Funeral services for Mary Alice Hinds, 69, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wood-Dunning Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Roger Foote, pastor of Northside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Hinds died at 2:32 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in University Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born April 12, 1933, in Flomot. She graduated from Floydada High School and attended Lippert?s Business College in Plainview. She worked as a bookkeeper for High Plains Pavers for more than 40 years and was sales associate for JC Penney for four years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 50 years and was Woman of the Year, Order of the Rose, Masters Status and served in all offices in the sorority. She also was a member of the Laureate Gamma Eta chapter and administrator of the Nila Copeland Scholarship Fund. In 1952, she married Johnny D. Hinds. He is deceased. Survivors include two sons, Kurt Lane Hinds of Arlington and Kelly D. Hinds of Plainview; two brothers, Charles M. Plumlee of Los Angeles, Calif., and Bobby C. Plumlee of Georgetown; one sister, Ruth Goss of Marietta, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Tristen D?Lane Hinds and Shawn Tyler Hinds, both of Arlington. The family suggests memorials to VistaCare Family Hospice.
