John Neal Hill

Mr. Hill died October 18, 2001 in Amarillo. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Brooks Chapel with Bob Shepard, elder and Bible chair director of University Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside services will follow at 5 p.m. today in Plainview Cemetery in Plainview. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors.

Mr. Hill was born on Nov. 19, 1906, in Seymour to John Elijah and Mattie Lee Sneed Hill. He was a farmer and truck driver before his move to California in the 1930s.

During World War II, he worked as a welder in the U.S. Naval Ship Yard Repair Facility doing his part in the war effort. He settled in Richmond, Calif., working for American Standard. He retired in 1969.

Mr. Hill was an avid square dancer and attended the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVella Olson Hill.

Survivors include two sisters, Ruby Bonds of Canyon, and Cara McGaugh and husband Melvin of Ralls; two brothers, Homer Hill and wife Dorotha of Georgetown, and Ira Hill and wife Ann of Plainview; and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice, 1001 Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
