Hiles, Madelyn Blackerby King
Funeral services for Madelyn Blackerby King Hiles, 70, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Bartley-Silva Memorial Chapel with Dean McNanara, interim pastor at First Christian Church and chaplain of VistaCare Family Hospice, officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home.
Ms. Hiles died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at her daughter?s residence.
She was born Madelyn Blackerby on Oct. 16, 1930, in the Whitfield Community, the daughter of the late Earl and Maudie Blackerby, pioneer Swisher County farmers. She attended Price country two-room school and graduated from Kress High School in 1948.
She received her beautician license in 1959 and operated a small beauty shop out of her home in Plainview before opening West Plaza Beauty Salon in 1962. In 1975, she moved to Dumas and returned to Plainview in 1979. She worked at Faye?s Lady Faire until September 1999 when she retired.
She was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church and was a partner of the Trinity Broadcasting Network.
She married Bill King in 1947. He died in 1958.
Survivors include a daughter, Debora Webb of Plainview; three sons, Larry King of Houston, Mike King of Amarillo, and Tommy King of Katy; a brother, Winfred Blackerby of Kress; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A sister, Winnie Pearson, is deceased.
Memorials are suggested to VistaCare Family Hospice.
The family will receive friends today and Friday at 206 N.W. Alpine.
