Obituary

Funeral services for John W. Hestand, 97, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Lemons Memorial Chapel with J Henderson, minister of 11th and Amarillo Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Hestand died at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, in Covenant Hospital Plainview. He was born Sept. 27, 1904, in Van Zandt County. He moved to Plainview in 1978 and farmed near Hale Center. He was a member of the Church of Christ. On March 13, 1932, he married Jewell Henderson in Roscoe. She died June 2, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Wesley Hestand of Rayville, La., and Bennett Hestand of Plainview; a brother, Elmer Hestand of Merkel; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
