Obituary

Funeral Mass for Maria Louisa Herrera, 70, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerard Kenny officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel. Mrs. Herrera died at 6:32 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in Covenant Hospital. She was born July 3, 1931, in Anson where she grew up and attended schools. Moved to Olton in 1951 then to Plainview in 1974. She had worked for the Texas Migrant Council since 1979. She received her teachers (CDA) certificate from Wayland in 1979. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Cursillistas. She married Hector Herrera Sr., in Anson on March 31, 1951. He died Feb. 14, 1978. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Pedroza of Plainview; three sons, Hector Herrera Jr., Joe Herrera and Herman Herrera, all of Plainview; three brothers, Manual Gonzalez of Baird, Eddie Gonzalez of Plainview, Martin Gonzalez Jr. of Abilene; three sisters, Delores Ramos and Pauline Salas, both of Plainview, and Janie Cortez of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
