Obituary

Violet Leilani Davis Henry, 87, of Plainview passed from this life and went to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart officiating and David Milstead assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. today at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Vi was born Jan. 25, 1924, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Mary and Issac Davis. During WWII, Vi married Dewey Rockford Henry of Plainview on Sept. 22, 1943, in Honolulu while he was in the United States Marine Corps. They came back to live in Plainview after the war in September 1945. Vi was an active member of First Baptist Church, the Searchers Sunday School class, Millennium Singers and the Cosmopolitan Club. She spent her life in Plainview working for Conner Mathis, owned and operated the Trade Winds Caf?, was a homemaker and worked to support the family business, Henry and Henry Housemoving. She loved living in Plainview, had a happy life here and made many, many lifelong friends. Survivors include her two sons, Dewey Rockford Henry Jr. and his wife, Ann, and Leroy Fredrick Henry and his wife, Lanette, all of Plainview. Vi had five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her closest friend and caregiver, Mrs. Betty Green, and her family. Many thanks go to the Frenius Dialysis Center of Plainview, and a special thanks to all of their staff. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Issac Davis; her husband, Dewey Rockford Henry Sr.; and her grandson, Roy Lee Henry. Pallbearers include Micheal Henry, Andy Hill, Adolfo Rangel, Ronnie McCulloch, Robert Long, Rick Pledger and Robert Vasquez. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials or other contributions to the First Baptist Church of Plainview Budget Fund or Building Fund, 205 W. Eighth, Plainview, TX 79072.
