Services for Marie Hendrix, 83, of Abernathy will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005, at the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Sikes and the Rev. John Lowrie officiating.
Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mrs. Hendrix died Thursday, April 7, at her home. She was born Aug. 13, 1921 in Chico, to Jesse C. and Beatrice A. (McKibben) Veach. She moved to Abernathy in 1943 and married Foy Hendrix May 2, 1945 in Abernathy. She had lived in Draw, Lynn County and graduated from New Home High School in 1938. She attended Texas Tech University, Draughon's Business College and graduated from Hi-Plains School of Nursing in1980. She had been employed at the Texas Department of Agriculture, the Abernathy Medical Clinic and Struve Implement. She was an active member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was involved in various church activities. She is survived by her husb and, Foy Hendrix of Abernathy; her daughter, Gwyn Pope and her husband Robert of Abernathy; two sons, Randy Hendrix and his wife Tressa of Lubbock, and Ken Hendrix and his wife Keila of Allen; two sisters, Reva Florence of Littlefield, and Betty Jeffery of Uvalde; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
