Funeral services for Louis Alex Henckel Sr., 69, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gerald Boerger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Henckel died at 3:55 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, in John G. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. He was born July 30, 1936, in Michigan City, Ind., the son of Naomi Anderson and Howard L. Henckel. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and worked as an electrician until 1982 when he moved to Albuquerque, N.M. He married Helen Louise Clemons on July 2, 1955, in Michigan City, Ind., and they traveled for a property management company of motels and apartments in several states from 1982-99 when they retired. They moved to Plainview in November 2003. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Elks Lodge. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carmela F. Hill and husband Dennis of Hart; a son, Louis A. Henckel Jr., and wife Mellodie of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Penny Ladra and husband Paul of Michigan City, Ind.; his mother, Naomi Henckel of Michigan City; and three grandchildren.
