Helton, Archie Doyle

Memorial services for Archie Doyle Helton, 72, were at 10 a.m. March 16 in Freeport, Fla., with the Rev. Louis Taunton, pastor of New Beginnings Fellowship in Freeport, officiating.

Mr. Helton died at 9:40 a.m. March 9, 2004, in Southwest Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

He was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Ft. Gaines, Ga., the son of Patrick and Audrey Helton. He grew up in Abbeville, Ala., where he attended schools. He served in both the Navy and Air Force and was honorably discharged.

He lived in Orlando, Fla., before moving to Plainview in 2002.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Brandon Tye of Plainview; two sons, Mark Helton and David Helton, both of Plainview; a sister, Glynn Sacrey of Orlando; three brothers, Charles Helton of Freeport, Fla., Walter Helton of Orange City, Fla., and Will Helton of Abbeville; and eight grandchildren.

A brother and two sisters are deceased.
