AUSTIN - Funeral services for Lula Maple Heflin, 95, former Plainview resident, were at 1 p.m. today in Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home. Graveside services will be in Plainview at 10 a.m. Saturday in Plainview Memorial Park. Mrs. Heflin died Tuesday, May 14, 2002. She was born Nov. 2, 1906, in Kress, the daughter of the late Will and Edna Rousser. She moved to Plainview in 1946. She was an active member of Center Plains PTA, First Methodist Church, Center Plains Home Demonstration Club, Plainview Home Interest Club and the XYZ Club. On Feb. 6, 1926, she married Joe Heflin. He is deceased. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Sue and Ken Cook of Austin and Wiladean and Jim Dickerson of Austin; a sister, Belle Thomson of Amarillo; a son-in-law Elbert Savage of Plainview; a daughter-in-law Bette Heflin of Sumner; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A daughter, Jo Ann Savage, a son, Kenneth Heflin, a sister, Lucille Anderson and a brother, C.W. Rousser, are deceased. The family suggests memorials to Plainview United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1299, Plainview, TX 79073.
