Obituary

Graveside services for John W. Heath, 85, of Plainview will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Plainview Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Foote officiating. Services are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Heath died Friday, June 3, 2011, in Lubbock. He was born May 28, 1926, in Anniston, Ala., to Early and Pearl Heath. He married Louise Lyberger in September 1956 in Alabama. She died June 3, 1989. He moved to Plainview from Alabama in 1964. He was a carpenter, painter, Army veteran and member of the VFW and American Legion. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Tommy McDonald of Wolfforth; two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Pam Patterson of Alabama and Bill and Sandra McMickings of Plainview; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. His parents; one son, Robert Earl Heath; and two sisters, Jewel Neely and Joyce Gentry, are deceased. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the South Plains or Texas Specialty Hospital.
