Hartley, Raymond Joe

Funeral Services for Raymond Joe Hartley, 81, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Seth Ward Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Ritter, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Hartley died at 12:27 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in Covenant Hospital.

He was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Plainview where he grew up and attended schools. He attended Lippert?s Business College and farmed in the Plainview area. He worked for the U.S. Post Office, retiring in 1973 as assistant postmaster.

He was a member of Seth Ward Baptist Church, was a Mason and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE).

On April 4, 1941, he married Evelyn McCartie in Plainview.

Survivors include his wife one son, Dennis Hartley of Plainview, one daughter, Katherine Petty of Friona; one sister, Mary Helen Hartley Meador of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Seth Ward Baptist Church.
