Harrison, L. Veldean Ragland

Funeral services for Veldean Ragland Harrison, 90, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Max Browning, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harrison died at 12:33 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in Cedar Park.

She was born Nov. 26, 1913, 20 miles south of Plainview in the Lakeview Community. She was the only daughter of the late Harry and Lillye Ragland.

The family moved to Plainview when she was in her early teens.

She was a member of First United Methodist where she sang in the choir for 35 years and taught Sunday school. She was a member of Harmony Sunday School Class and the Iva Wheeler Circle. She sold tickets at the Granada and Fair Theaters when Shirley Temple was popular and also worked for Meinecke Bros. Hardware for 16 years and Marse and Son Department Store.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, J.C. and Doris Harrison of Snyder; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janelle Jackson of Cedar Park and Beverly and Jack Anthamatten of Seabrook; five grandchildren, Steve Jackson of Las Vegas, Nev., Carrie Rusch of Leander, Dion Jackson of Cedar Park, Susan Boone of Midland and Clif Harrison of Snyder; and six great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Eugene and Austin Ragland, also are deceased.

The family suggest memorials to First United Methodist Church. They will receive friends at the church Saturday at 10 a.m. prior to the service.
