Obituary

Memorial services for Loy Harrison, 62, of Austin, former Lockney resident, will be at 3 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Plainview. Graveside services will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Harrison died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, after a brief illness. She was born March 19, 1940, in Lamesa, the daughter of the late Connie and Thelma O?Brien. She graduated from Lockney High School and attended Texas Tech University. After her marriage to Kelly Harrison in August of 1961, they lived South America and the Middle East. They moved to Springfield, Va., and she received her master?s in special education from George Mason University. She taught special education at Franconia Center for 13 years. She moved to Austin in July 2000 and taught at Andrews Elementary. She was a member of Bannockburn Baptist Church. Survivors include a three daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Lyall Vanatta of Springfield, Va., Kristen and Mark Berrier and Misty and Corey Blahuta, all of Austin; one son, Scott Harrison of Boulder, Colo.; a brother, Pat O?Brien of Pueblo, Colo.; three grandchildren; and her former husband, Kelly Harrison of Cairo, Egypt. The family will receive visitors from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Reading is Fundamental of Austin, P.O. Box 684794, Austin, TX 78768.
