Obituary

Joe Henry Harris, 90, of Amarillo, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with the Rev. Rich Jones of St. Stephen United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Harris was born in Heidenheimer. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1933 and was honored in 2005 for being one of the oldest living graduates of Plainview High School.

He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Harris was a resident of Amarillo since 1971 and was a partner in J & E Wholesale Floral Co. He previously lived in Pampa, San Angelo, Lubbock, Conchas Dam, N.M., and Albuquerque, N.M.

Mr. Harris married Cecilia Struve Nisbet in 1941. She preceded him in death in 1986.

He also was preceded in death by a son, Carey D. Nisbet in 1977; and a brother, Curtis D. Harris in 2003.

Survivors include a son, Tommy Nisbet and wife Mary Lou of Amarillo; a daughter, Celia Jo Hedges and husband Walt of Pine Top, Ariz.; a sister, Bobbie L. Nisbet and husband Scott of Pampa; grandchildren, Steven T. Nisbet and wife Marisa of Minneapolis, Shelley Harris and husband Edgar of San Angelo, Robyn Shaw and Ryan of Show Low, Ariz., Aaron Nisbet of Lubbock, Amber Matthews and husband Monty of New Deal and Todd Pearson of Lubbock; and four great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to the Children's Miracle Network or a favorite charity.

The family will be at 4715 Buffalo Trail.
