Obituary

Funeral services for Jakie M. Harris, 73, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wood Dunning Colonial Chapel with Tim Harper of VistaCare Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Harris died at 2:26 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at home. He was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Eastland. He attended schools at Dimmitt. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from March 1952 to February 1956. Mr. Harris farmed in Castro and Hale counties. He was employed by the USDA Federal Crop Insurance for 27 years. After his retirement from USDA he was associated with Blakely Crop Hail of Topeka, Kan., and, at the time of his death, was with Producers Lloyds Insurance of Amarillo, Texas as a reviewer/adjuster. He also was a cattle feeder. Survivors include two sons, Eddie Harris of Dumas, and Justin Ogden of Plainview; five daughters, Elaine Osbment and Raelyn Wright of Lamar, Colo., Melynda Woolford of Ocala, Fla., and MaryAnn Pinkerton and Lisa Bailey of Plainview; three sisters, Meda Dickerson of Athens, Texas, Lois McBeth of Andrews and Anna Clement of Jefferson, Ore.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
