Harral, Leonard Paul

Funeral services for Leonard Paul Harral, 92, were at 4 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with Ken Horn, Chaplin of VistaCare Hospice, and Jeff Petillo, minister of music and youth at First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial was in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home.

Mr. Harral died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001.

He was born Aug. 19, 1909, near County Line where he grew up and attended school. He attended Wayland Baptist College in Plainview and graduated from Texas Tech. He was a farmer and rancher in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado and had lived in Abernathy since 1945.

His first wife, Olivette Stuart, died in 1986.

Survivors include his second wife, Dorothy Chapman Davenport Harral; a daughter, Barbara Maud Harral Goldston of Albuquerque, N.M.; a stepdaughter, Vicki Davenport Havens of Lubbock; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and his adopted farm family, the Freddie Shaws of County Line.

A daughter, Sarah Nancy Harral Herring, died in 1999; a grandson, James Paul Herring, died in 1991; and a brother, John Lewis Harral, died in 1961.
