Obituary

Lenard Vance Harper, 86, of Plainview, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012, in Plainview. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today, June 6, 2012, in Plainview Memorial Park with the Rev. Don Robertson officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Lenard was born Jan. 9, 1926, to Homer and Lucy Harper in Lockney, Texas. He married Ruth Reddy on Dec. 10, 1948. Lenard served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. Lenard is survived by his wife, Ruth Harper of Plainview; one daughter, Derinda Harper Sanders and her husband, Joe, of Odessa; two sons, Douglas Brett Harper and his wife, Michelle, of Albany, Ore., and Lenard LaMont Harper and his wife, Vicki, of Carrollton; one sister, Margaret Saul of Plainview; four grandchildren, Nathan Sanders, Vance Sanders, Rebekah Harper and Andrea Harper; and two great-grandchildren, Cassie Sanders and Brayden Harper.
