Obituary

Graveside services for Lettress Goldston Harkness, 87, of Roswell, N.M., will be at 10 a.m. today at Strip Cemetery with Don Hegi of Petersburg Church of Christ officiating.

Burial is under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

She died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003.

She was born Feb. 21, 1915, in Dexter. She moved from Dexter to Lakeview Community in 1922. She graduated from high school in 1933 at Lakeview. She married George Harkness on May 20, 1943, in Hale Center. They were in the motel business from 1943 to 1957. They moved to Lovington, N.M., in 1965. She was a mail contractor. She retired in 1988 and moved to a retirement home in Roswell. She was a member of West Country Club Road Church of Christ. She was in the American Legion Auxiliary and V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Jimmy Harkness.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Gaines of Roswell; a brother, Jesse Goldston of Tucumcari, N.M.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
