Obituary

Services for Ann "Annie Lou" Harkey, 68, of New Deal will be at 4 p.m. today at Abernathy First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Bass, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be at Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.

She died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born June 28, 1932, in Floydada. She married Fredrick Andrew "Zeke" Harkey Sr. on Dec. 16, 1956, in Lubbock. He died March 4, 1996. She had been a resident of New Deal since 1957. She was employed by the New Deal Independent School District for 27 years, retiring in December 1996. She was a member of the Abernathy First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Lane Harkey, on April 2, 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Freddy of Abernathy and Curtis of New Deal; a daughter, Joanna Harkey of Lubbock; a brother, Bill Hopper of Floydada; two sisters, Fran Pool of Morton and Debra Hunter of Alto, N.M.; and seven grandchildren.
