Funeral services for Thurman Gail Haney, 78, of Lubbock, formerly of Hale Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bartley Memorial Chapel in Plainview. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Haney died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, in Lubbock Hospital House. He was born Dec. 17, 1925, in Roosevelt, Okla. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and farmed in the Hale Center and Plainview areas for many years, retiring in 1980 when he moved to Lubbock. He was a drug and alcohol counselor in Lubbock. On Sept. 27, 1947, he married Betty McMinn in Plainview. Survivors include his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Earl and Callie Haney of Amarillo, David and Shari Haney of Abernathy and Michael and Annette Haney of Plainview; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Mary Lou Haney of Tampico, Ill.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marianne and John Jack of Paris, Texas and Doris and Clarence Dorsett of Santa Rosa, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A brother, Leonard Levon Haney, and a sister, Zola Fern Jackson, are deceased. The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
