PETERSBURG - Graveside services for I.D. Haney, 76, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Petersburg Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Hancock officiating. Burial arrangements are by Rix Funeral Directors. Mr. Haney died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001. He was born Nov. 22, 1924 in Quanah. He moved to Petersburg in 1930 and to Lubbock in 1967. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He farmed in Hale County near Petersburg from 1940 until he semi-retired in 1967. He worked with Haney Construction as a property manager after moving to Lubbock. He was a Baptist. On Aug. 25, 1942, he married Ella Jane Elliott in Panhandle. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tommy D. haney of San Antonio; a brother, Milton Haney of Carter, OK; three sisters, Inez Johnson of Melrose, NM, Bobby Holman of Tipton, OK, and Marjie Smith of Johnson, TN; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. A grandchild died in May 1998. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
