Funeral services for Raymond A. Hamilton, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bartley Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ron Huckeby, lay minister, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Hamilton died Saturday, April 1, 2006, in Plainview Healthcare Center. He was born March 6, 1928, in Lee Creek, Ark., and moved to Plainview in 1997 from Floyd County. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served with the Plainview Police Department for nine years and was Lockney chief of police for five years. He also was a deputy sheriff for Floyd County for several years. He loved to work in his woodworking shop and was always with his companion "Charlie," his dog who cared for him. He married Jacqueline Jacobs on Dec. 24, 1997, in Van Buren, Ark. Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Maria Hamilton of Woodward, Okla., and Larry and Michelle Hamilton of Lubbock; and two grandchildren, Dustin and Marci Hamilton. His brother, Kenneth Hamilton, and three sisters, Reba Lampro, Lena Marcum and Velva Hamilton, are deceased. Visitation will be from 6-7 tonight at the funeral home.
