Hamilton, J.W., Mrs. (Maurine McNeely)

Abernathy-Funeral services for Maurine Hamilton, 75, will be at 2p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Syl Moore, the Rev. Mike Wilcox and the Rev. Aubrey Howell officiating.

Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hamilton died Friday, Jan. 1999, in Covenant Medical Center.

She was born May 6, 1923 in Lubbock. She had lived in the Abernathy area for the past 57 years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and past member of the Abernathy Study Club and New Deal Home Demonstration Club.

On April 24, 1943, she married J.W. Hamilton in Lubbock. He died Aug. 8, 1993.

Survivors include a son, Ronnie Hamilton of Abernathy; three daughters, Barbara Alsup of Waco, Janna Carter of Tyler and Elaine Lott of Garden City, Kan.; a brother R.G. ?Bus? McNeely of Oklahoma City; four sisters, Oleta Greenhill , Glee Showalter and Jean Utley ,all of Lubbock, and Joy Yarbrough of Waco.

A son, Johnny Hamilton, died April 5, 1996.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, National Arthritis Association or to Abernathy First Baptist Church.
