Hamilton, A.M., Mrs. (Lena Goodrich)

Funeral services for Lena Hamilton, 98, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Bob Bratcher of Odessa, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hamilton died Sunday, March 9, 2003.

She was born March 29, 1904, in Stonewall County East of Jayton, the daughter of Sallie Bilberry and Leon V. Goodrich. She attended school in Jayton and graduated as valedictorian in 1921. She attended Wayland Baptist College and received her master?s degree from Texas Tech. She taught in Kent, Stonewall and Dickens counties before returning to Plainview here she taught until she retired.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and other organizations. She was a world traveler and an avid reader.

On June 24, 1934, she married A.M. Hamilton. He died Jan. 12, 1967.

Survivors include six nieces, Dorothy Trent, Billye Hicks, Joy Roberts and Joan Ethridge, all of California, and Ernestine Wakefield and Beth Luther, both of Amarillo.

A niece, Hope Roberts and a nephew, Jerry D. Goodrich, are deceased.

The family suggests memorials to Wayland Baptist University, 1900 W. Seventh St., Plainview, TX 79072.
