Obituary
Volis J. Hall, 84, of Plainview died on Sunday, July 19, 2009, in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at First Baptist Church Chapel in Plainview with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, July 21, 2009, at the funeral home. Mr. Hall was born March 4, 1925, in Paducah, Texas, to Ed and Ida Hall. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a pharmacist mate. Volis married Faynell McCoy on July 30, 1954, in Hollis, Okla., and they relocated to Plainview 10 years later. He worked at Daffern Steel and retired in 1992. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bill and Lon; and a sister, Francis. Volis was a fine, honest and hard-working man who loved his family very much. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife, Faynell, of Plainview; two sons, Brent Hall and his wife, Tamara, of Lubbock and Lynn Hall of Plainview; one daughter, Renee Pelfrey and her husband, Russell, of Lakeland, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Kelle Hall of Canyon; six grandchildren, Chandler Hall of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Benjamin and Elizabeth Hall of Canyon, Tanda Cox and B.J. Turpin of Clovis, N.M., Jonathan Sharp of Lubbock, and Dillan and Devin Pelfrey of Lakeland, Tenn.; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial donations be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800. Honorary pallbearers will be all of the grandchildren.
