Obituary

Funeral services for L.C. Arthur "Chicken" Hall Jr., 58, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in United Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gardner, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, and the Rev. Gregory D. Franklin Sr., pastor of Samuels Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home. Mr. Hall died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at his residence. He was born Oct. 15, 1943, in Caldwell, the son of the late L.C. Arthur "Slick" Sr., and Corene Hall. He graduated from Smith High School in Caldwell in 1962 and worked for a steel company in Big Spring. He also farmed west of Plainview. He moved to Plainview in 1963. He and Margaret Mathis were married in 1963. She is deceased. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Vince Arthur Hall and Jeremy Alexander, both of Plainview, and Bobby Kevin Mathis of Amarillo; three daughters, LaQuenda Alexander of Plainview, Lisa Gilkey of Palestine and Sophia Strickland of Tulia; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Lester and Joyce French of Tucumcari, N.M., Edward Wayne and Patricia Hall and his wife and Quincy Allen Hall, all of Plainview, and the Rev. Bobby Eugene and Nell Hall of Casa Grande, Ariz.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Charles Etta and Chinnell Smoots of Plainview and Yvonne and Gregory D. Franklin Sr. of Arlington; a brother-in-law, Jack Thomas of Plainview; and six grandchildren.Pallbearers will be Bobby Evans, James Wooley, Zavier Hall, Wendell Hall, Michael Hall, Steven Hall, Reggie Hall and Tyson Smoots.
