Obituary

Cherree Halbleib, 67, of Emory, Texas, passed away on April 28, 2014. Cherree battled multiple sclerosis and chose to donate her body to the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas to further MS research. A memorial service was held in Yantis, Texas, on April 29. Cherree was born Aug. 12, 1946, in St. Francis, Kan. She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1964 and received a business certificate from Brown Mackie Business College in Salina, Kan., in 1965. She married Ken Halbleib on Feb. 14, 1965, and they lived in Goodland, Kan., before relocating to Plainview and Emory. Her career included office and accounting work for Goodland State Bank, KLOE Radio & Television, First National Bank, Wells Fargo and United Supermarkets. Cherree is survived by her husband, Ken of Emory; one daughter, Dr. Dana West and husband Randy of Amarillo; one son, Darin Halbleib and wife Tania of Plainview; and one sister Marjorie Lampe of St. Francis, Kan. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Amber West and fianc? Gareth Rees; Amanda West and husband Ish Ledesma; Kenady Castillo and husband JJ; and Jagar Halbleib. She was proud of her two great-grandchildren, Leighton and Nova. The family suggests donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Cherree's memory.
