Funeral services for Edith C. Haddick, 99, of Denton, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church Chapel with Dr. Max Browning, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Haddick died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, in Vintage Health Center in Denton.

She was born Nov. 17, 1901, in Marion, Va., the daughter of the late Minnie C. and Carl W. Richardson. They moved to Texas in 1903 and settled on part of the old Callahan Ranch in the Ellen Community southeast of Plainview.

She grew up riding ranch horses and helping with the cattle. Her father opened the Ellen Post Office in 1913 as postmaster and she assisted with the delivery of mail by horse and buggy.

In 1918, she married Clyde M. Haddick and they farmed in the area for 51 years. He died in 1969.

She was a pianist for the church in the community and taught piano in their home during the 1930?s.

She was a member of the M&M Study Club, Woman?s Home Demonstration Club, Happy Union Sewing Club and was active in First United Methodist Church in Plainview.

After her husband?s death, she continued to operate the farm until 1993 when her health forced her to move to a nursing home.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Edith C. Eggleston of Keller and Frances and Raoul Laganiere of Wheatland, Wyo.; a son and daughter-in-law, Clyde M. and Virginia Haddick Jr., of Friendswood; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
