ABERNATHY ? Funeral services for Evaughn Hackler, 87, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Wilcox, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hackler died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at her residence.

She was born April 1, 1913, in Oklahoma. She had been a longtime Abernathy resident and was a graduate of Texas Tech University. She taught school in the Abernathy ISD from 1934 to 1978.

She was a member of the 1935 Study Club, served as librarian at Abernathy Library and was put on the library board. She was a past member of the Business and Professional Women?s Organization in Lubbock and was honored as Woman of the Year by the Abernathy Chamber of Commerce in 1981 and was given the Community Service Award in 1991.

She was a member of Abernathy First Baptist Church.

Her husband, James Thomas ?Jack? Hackler, died April 7, 1981.

Survivors include a son, B.J. Hackler of Lafayette, La., and a granddaughter.

The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 411 Seventh St., Abernathy, TX 79311.
