Funeral services for J.B. Guthrie, 93, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wood-Dunning Colonial Chapel with George Hogland and L.G. Butler of Lubbock officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.
Mr. Guthrie died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, in Austin.
He was born March 5, 1910, in Star. He moved to New Deal in 1924 and graduated from Littlefield High School. He moved to Plainview in 1930 and attended Lippert's Business College.
He served with the U.S. Navy durring World War II.
In 1948, he joined Southwestern Public Service, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
On March 18, 1948, he married Ailene Johnson in Lamesa.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Bill Agnell of Austin; a son, J.T. Guthrie of Austin; a sister, Eva Costello of Austin; and two grandsons, Ryan Agnell of Irving and Brandon Agnell of Columbia, MD.
A sister and four brothers are deceased.
