Funeral services for Eusevio "Joe" Guevara, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Primera Iglesia Bautista with the Rev. Glen Godsey, the Rev. Joe Hernandez and the Rev. Santos Rodriquez, officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mr. Guevara died at 2:48 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, in Covenant Hospital Plainview.
He was born Dec. 15, 1914, in Alpine. He moved to Plainview in 1946 and was a self-employed sheep shearer. He also enjoyed carpentry and volunteered to help rebuild after the tornado hit Saragosa. He traveled to Juarez annually to help with Vacation Bible School. He was a retired pastor and had preached in Hart, Edmonson and held services out of his home with Faith in Christ Church.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Baptists.
He married Francisca Vera on Sept. 21, 1935, in Ballinger. She died Dec. 15, 1984. On Nov. 22, 1986, he married Josephine Guevara.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters and a son-in-law, Erma Guevara Sanchez of Fort Worth and Nelda Guevara and Allen Berger of Arlington; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eusevio and Frances Guevara Jr., of East Chicago, Ind., Rodolfo Guevara of Austin and George and Juanita Guevara of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
