Obituary

ABERNATHY - Graveside services for William Edward Guerrant, 84, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Abernathy Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Bass officiating. Arrangements are by Abell Funeral Home. Mr. Guerrant died Monday, March 25, 2002, in Lubbock. He was born July 23, 1917, in Huntsville. He served with the U.S. Navy before and during World War II for seven years as chief quartermaster. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Abernathy Masonic Lodge, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars On June 5, 1948, he married Elayne Halford in Reno, Nev. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Steve Guerrant of New Braunfels, Larry Guerrant of Fort Worth, Gerre Guerrant of Channelview and Greg Guerrant of Abernathy; one daughter, Kathi Guerrant of Mountain View, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at First United Methodist Church following services. The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, 704 Ave. D.
