Funeral services for Paul Guerra, 79, of Tulia, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Nueva Vida/New Life Assembly of God Church in Plainview with the Rev. J. Andrew Housley officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Agape Funeral Chapel of Lubbock. Mr. Guerra died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at his residence in Tulia. He was born June 23, 1925, at Premont, the son of Andres and Aliphonsa Guerra. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1944-46 aboard the USS Tantalu. He worked as a brick contractor in Plainview and surrounding area and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. On June 6, 1949, he married Juanita A. May in Hereford. Survivors include his wife; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Ellie and Fred Avila of Brant, Mich., Klara and Ish Gonzales, Teena and Alex Lopez, Abbie and Henry Gonzales, and Lavonne and Chuck Honeycutt, all of Plainview, Angie and Darrell Bradley of Cleburne, and Judy and Mike Taylor of Dalhart; one son, Daniel Guerra of Tulia; three brothers; two sisters; 39 grandchildren; and 68 great-grandchildren. His parents and an infant son, Darrell, are deceased.
