Obituary

Funeral Mass for La Coyota Guajardo, 87, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymundo Manriquez, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today and 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Guajardo died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Prairie House Living Center. He was born May 16, 1920, in San Antonio. He grew up there and also lived in South Texas. He moved to Plainview and worked for Excel for 26 years before retiring in the 1980s. He married Manuela Villalpando in 1952 in Plainview. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Gloria Guajardo of Amarillo; two sons, Peter Guajardo of Abilene and Willie Torres of Bridgeport; three sisters, Julia Garcia and Delores Garza, both of Houston, and Gregoria Guajardo of Roma; his pride and joy, Melissa Plasencio; a longtime family friend whom he helped raise, Dora Flores of Uvalde; and three grandchildren.
