Obituary

Funeral services for Gladys Groce, 86, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kerry Groce officiating and the Rev. Tom Griffin assisting. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Groce died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, in Lubbock. She was born March, 26, 1920, in Byrdstown, Tenn., to Kenneth and Minnie Lou Coe. She grew up in Byrdstown and attended schools there. They moved to Petersburg in 1939. She was a member of First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school. She also served as a church hostess and G.A. leader. She married Ray Groce on Feb. 11, 1938, in Byrdstown, Tenn. He died June 13, 1996. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Gaylord and Sammie Groce of Petersburg; three brothers, Charles Coe of Akron, Ohio, Henry Coe of Wayne, Mich., and Bill Coe of Cookerville, Tenn.; three sisters, Joyce Huddleston of Muncy, Ind., Kay Dyer of Bowling Green, Ken., and Janice Eaton of Easley, S.C.; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
