Grimsley, Billy Wayne

ABERNATHY (Special) Services for Billy Wayne Grimsley, 40, of Abernathy, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Wilcox, pastor, and the Rev. Joel Perez, pastor of the New Creation Baptist Church in Abernathy, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.

He died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born March 20, 1959, in Ft. Sill, Okla. He was raised in Abernathy and graduated from Abernathy High School in 1977. He married Tammy Shafer on November 26, 1982, in Abernathy. He had been a Cub Scout and later was active in the Abernathy Boy Scouts Troop 481 as a scout leader.

He had been employed by Sanders Auto and by the John Deere Implement Dealerships in Abernathy and Plainview. He was currently employed by Lubbock Wholesale Florist and was owner of Abernathy Floral. He was a former member of the Abernathy Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Andy and Levi, both of Abernathy; parents, Larry and Billie Grimsley of Abernathy; three brothers, Jerry, Bobby and Mike, all of Abernathy.
