Obituary

HALE CENTER - Funeral services for Wayne Greenhaw, 78, of Hale Center will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Hale Center Church of Christ with Kermit Webb and Floyd Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Center Plains Cemetery at Cotton Center under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Greenhaw died Thursday, June 24, 2010, in Lubbock. He was born Dec. 4, 1931, in Lubbock.

He graduated from Cotton Center High School and received a bachelor' degree from Abilene Christian College. He married Betty Lou Waters on Sept. 22, 1956, in Hale Center. He was an elder in the Church of Christ, served on the Cotton Center School Board for 23 years, was president of the Cotton Center Lions Club, served as president of the Center Plains Cemetery Board and the Farm Bureau Board and was on the Hale County Appraisal District Board for five years. He was a farmer until retiring in 2000.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerald and Bobbye Greenhaw of Plainview and Greg and Angela Greenhaw of Sundown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Chris Cummings of Hale Center and Gail and Jonny Hutson of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
