Obituary

Funeral services for Raymond K. Green, 94, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church chapel with Dr. Lewis Holland, pastor, and Dr. Max Browning, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Green died Sunday, May 29, 2005, in Plainview. He was born Dec. 17, 1910, in Dallas, the son of Tom and Sallie Killough Green. He grew up in Brownwood where he graduated high school and attended Daniel Baker College, graduating in the class of 1934. He received his master's degree in education from Texas Tech University. On Dec. 24, 1938, he married Juanita Jo Beasley in Lamesa. He served as superintendent for Draw, Crosbyton, Santa Anna and Post school districts and in 1958 the family moved to Plainview where he served as principal for Lakeside Elementary and Thunderbird Elementary until his retirement. He and his wife were members of the Silver Streak Travel Club and charter members of the Good Sam Club of Plainview. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a 50-year member of Plainview Lodge #709, a member of Plainview Evening Lions Club where he served as president, and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and the Wesley Class and served the church in many capacities. Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Alene and Alan Franklin of Austin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Barbara Green of Plainview and Jim Bob and Mary Green of West Bridge, Va.; seven grandchildren, Katie Brakemeir and husband Robert, Kelli Green, Richard Green, Holly Reed, Scott Green, Jack Wirth and wife Tracey, and Rita Weiland and husband Jim; and four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Violet Page of Plainview; and friend and caregiver, Darlene David. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. They suggest memorials to the Hale County Senior Citizens Center or to First United Methodist Church.
