Obituary
Funeral services for Emmett M. Green, 95, will be at 5 p.m. Friday in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Chapel with Kim Hays of Garland Street Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Green died at 12:45 a.m. today, Oct. 12, 2006, at Prairie House Living Center. He was born June 25, 1911, in Plainview to the late George and Falone Green. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1935 and attended Lippert's Business College in Plainview where he met Mary Cooper. They married Jan. 8, 1938, in Littlefield. He was part owner of the family business, Green Machinery Company of Plainview, since 1942. The family then moved to Fort Worth where he worked as a machinist in a bomber plant during World War II. He returned to the family business in 1945, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Hale County Senior Citizens, Odd Fellows Lodge #12 and Garland Street Church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Leona and Bill Cartwright of Plainview; three grandsons and their spouses, Rick and Ronda Cartwright of Lubbock, Troy and Tai Cartwright of Abilene and Kip and Pam Cartwright of Duncanville; and seven great-grandchildren. His three brothers, Dwight Green, Ivan Green and Wendell Green; and sister, Dorothy Shipman, are deceased.
