Obituary

Elan Murriel Addington was born to John William Addington and Amanda Virginia Irwin. She married Charles Hudson Green on 14 Aug 1927 in Lubbock, Texas at the First Baptist Church. They had 3 children:

Virginia Charlene Green
Elan Lewis Green
Edna Lou Green

In looks, Murriel took after the Addington side of the family. She was an excellent seamtress, and made her wedding day going away dress. It was a sleeveless flapper dress that was a changeable color taffeta (coral, gold and yellow). She also made clothes for her children. She liked to cook special things, like deserts. She was gentle with her children's feelings,e.g. made their school lunches with loaf bread, rather putting in leftover breakfast biscuits.

Murriel died of a brain tumor, which first caused her to go blind. While blind, she decided she wanted to make a last visit to family in Snyder, Texas. She and her 3 young children rode the bus from Lubbock to Snyder, just the four of them. She was a devout Christian, and knew she would soon have a home in heaven.
