Funeral services for Thomas Carl Gray, 71, of Plainview will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Gray died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009. He was born Feb. 12, 1938, to John and Ruby Gray in Natchez, Miss., where he attended schools and graduated high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during Vietnam. He was in the military for more than 20 years. After retiring, he worked in the food service industry. He was food service captain at the Wheeler Unit, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, starting in 1995. He later oversaw the Wheeler and Formby units before retiring in March 2004. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. He married Dorothy Watts on May 31, 1959, in Waco. Survivors include his wife; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas Jr. and Miriam Gray of Colorado Springs, Colo., Timothy Wayne and Patriza Gray of Dallas and Terry Allen Gray of Houston; one brother, John Gray of Natchez, Miss.; and eight grandchildren. His parents; a sister, Virginia Clover; and two brothers, Richard Gray and Samuel Gray, are deceased. Memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
