Obituary

Graveside services for Billie Jean Goree, 83, of Halfway will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Goree died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, in Lubbock. She was born Feb. 18, 1928, in Hardeman County to Andrew Lace Franklin and Myrtle Pruitt. She married Harold Goree on Sept. 3, 1943, in Quanah. He died Oct. 28, 1988. She was a longtime Halfway resident and a member of First Baptist Church of Halfway. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Leta and Randall Moore of Plainview; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Diane Goree of Plainview, Alton and Linda Goree of Newcastle and Larry and Pat Goree of Deerfield, Kan.; two brothers, Bobby Pruitt of Vernon and Eddy Pruitt of Edmonson; one sister, Frankie Marquart of Quanah; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
